DIAMOND — It was only fitting that the Diamond Wildcats would send their boys basketball seniors out in style on Friday. It was senior night, after all, and a pair of seniors, Ryan Jinks and Logan Myers, both sparkled on the floor in a 58-39 victory over Greenfield.
Jinks saved his best for last, apparently, as he turned in a career-high 28 points, while Myers added 11, including a two-handed dunk in the fourth quarter, to lift the Wildcats to their eighth Spring River Valley Conference win of the season.
"We're still on the road to improvement," Wildcats coach Brandon Rabel said. "We haven't peaked yet, and that's great. It was a good senior night."
Trent Hayes and Austin Singleton both had six points apiece for the Wildcats, while Brodie Bien added four, Cort Hardy two and Evan Moreland one.
Hayes was a key in holding Greenfield's Austin Marshall, who recently scored 33 points against Sarcoxie, to three points on Friday.
Hunter Montez paced Greenfield with 13 points, while Anthony Schwindler added nine, Carl Mason five, Austin Marshall three, Lane Hankins three, Brendan Black three, Coleman Whittaker two and Jacob Long one.
The Wildcats (20-5, 8-1) take on Ash Grove at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Class 3, District 12 Tournament at Seneca High School.
