Mr. Hartford Eugene Talbert, 94, Pierce City, died on Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at Cox-Monett in Monett.
Mr. Talbert was born in Toulon, Ill., on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 1918. He was the son of William M. and Sadie (Babcock) Talbert. Mr. Talbert attended Jolly Mill Methodist Church. He retired from Shepherd Hardwood Lumber Company and served his country in the U.S. Army in World War II.
Surviving are the following: his four sons, Rusty and wife, Donna, Granby, William Mike, Neosho, Kenneth and wife, Judy, Verona, Mo., and Danny and wife, Georgia, Pierce City; four daughters, Lynda Dowey and husband, Jim, Cassville, Sally Chapman and husband, Greg, Kansas City, Mo., Kathy Allen, Oronogo, and Sandy Wicker and husband, Paul, Crane, Mo.; 29 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Talbert was preceded in death by his wife, Dottie, on Aug. 4, 2012; and a son, Terry, on April 4, 2010.
The family will receive friends at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, from 6 – 7 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, on Wednesday, beginning at 2 p.m. with Rev. Gene Needham officiating. Burial will follow at Jolly Bethel Cemetery in Pierce City.
