  • The Crowder Lady ‘Riders softball team is off to a 4-2 start this season after dropping a pair of games on Sunday to Lake Land Community College (10-5, 3-2), after sweeping a pair against them on Saturday (6-4, 12-10).
In the final game on Sunday, the Lady ‘Riders fell behind 2-0 in the fourth inning before plating a run in the fourth to make it 2-1. Lake Land then plated an insurance run in the seventh, and for good measure as Crowder added one in the bottom of the seventh, but ultimately fell short.
Samantha Nissen rapped two hits and drove in a run for Lake Land, while Rachel Keller, Melanie Steer, Emily Bishop, Rebecca Patterson, Morgan Hart and Katie Watson each added hits. Keller and Patterson both had an RBI.
Shyanne Nichols went 3-for-3 at the dish for the Lady ‘Riders, while Shelby Stuck, Carson Forge, Brooke Hulsey and Kala Crisp all had hits. Hulsey drove in Crowder’s only run.
The Lady ‘Riders open play at the Temple Tournament in Temple, Tex. on Friday.
