The Crowder Lady ‘Riders softball team went 3-2 over the weekend at the Temple College Tournament.
With three games on Saturday and two more Sunday, the Lady ‘Riders began the weekend with a 4-2 loss to Galveston, before bouncing back with wins of 6-3 and 11-6 over Blinn and McClennen, respectively. They returned to action on Sunday with a 9-2 loss to Temple before getting revenge with a 2-1 victory in the second game of their doubleheader.
Sunday’s opener against Temple was marred by two big innings in which the Lady ‘Riders allowed three runs in the third and six more in the sixth. They bounced back, however, with a run in the first and another in the seventh inning of the nightcap and held off Temple in the end to win it.
Madison Barnes started for the Lady ‘Riders in the win and allowed one run through 6 1/3 on back to back triples with one out in the seventh. Ashton Worth then came on and recorded the final two outs while stranding the runner at third to earn the save. Barnes scattered six hits, waked two and struck out two while earning the win on the mound. Worth struck out one.
Crowder managed to win the game despite being out-hit, 6-2. Shelby Stuck and Kala Crisp had the only hits for Crowder, with Stuck and Morgan Coleman each driving in a run.
Crowder improved to 7-4 overall. They’ll host Northeastern Oklahoma A&M on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
