The Neosho City Council has scheduled a special session meeting for 8:30 a.m. Friday, March 1, to vote on the city's pet licensing fees.

The council will meet at the Neosho City Hall Council Chambers, 203 E. Main St.

The council is scheduled to vote on adjusting the city's pet license fees, making the annual pet licenses free for neutered pets, compared to the current $5 fee, while a license for a non-neutered pet would be $20, down from the existing $25 fee.
The move would also do away with lifetime pet licenses, as well as leave the replacement tag fee at $3 and set the pickup fee at $25.

All other charges would be paid at actual cost charged by the Joplin or Carthage Humane Society and collected by the agency.

If approved, the fees would be in effect on Saturday at the city's second annual Neosho Pet Fair, set from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Lampo Center, 500 E. Spring Street.
