  • Elmer L. Sprenkle, 76, was born Feb. 24, 1936, in Neosho, to James and Felicia Sprenkle.

  • Elmer L. Sprenkle, 76, was born Feb. 24, 1936, in Neosho, to James and Felicia Sprenkle.
    He was the youngest of nine children. Elmer's first schooling was in a one-room school house; he loved to read and was known for reading all the books that were available in the one-room school house library. He was involved in football and theater in high school. After high school he served two years in the army, and then on to college. He was a graduate of the Missouri School of Mines with an electrical engineering degree.
    After graduation, his first job was with Douglas Aircraft in Tulsa, Okla.
    In Tulsa, he met and married Martha Borden.
    Elmer and Martha have four children, Diane (John), Marcy, David (Lakeida) and Edward (Julie). They have six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
    Elmer retired from the federal government/civil service at the Fort Huachuca military installation; stationed in Sierra Vista, Ariz.,and Delta Junction, Alaska.
    Elmer was a family man devoted to spending his time doing activities that involved the family. Some of his favorite things to do were hunting and fishing with his brothers and playing card games with family members.
    Elmer died quick and sudden of a massive heart attack in his home on Feb. 22, 2013.
    Memorial services were held at Hatfield Funeral Home, 830 S. Highway 92, Sierra Vista, Ariz.,on Friday, March 1 at 10:30 a.m.
