Carl L. Merriman, 84, Neosho, died March 4, 2013 at his home, following 14 years of failing health.
Carl was born Feb. 17, 1929 in Higley, Ariz., the son of Troy and Annie (Brittain) Merriman.
He was raised in Holdenville, Okla., and moved to California where he met and married his wife, Nelda (Denham) on June 3, 1957 at Madera, Calif.
They resided in California where Carl worked in farming, as a mechanic and as a reserve officer and obtained the rank of lieutenant. In 1973, they purchased a farm in Rocky Comfort,, where they raised horses and boilers and in 2009, moved to Neosho. Carl served on the McDonald County Deputy Reserves, was instrumental in forming the District Rural Water Board in McDonald County and had served as president and was a member of High Street Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Nelda of the home; two daughters, Annette Merriman, Webb City, and Paulette Daugherty and husband, Bill, Neosho; a son, Larry Merriman; three grandchildren, Brett Arrasmith and wife, Kellie; Bethany Arrasmith and Brady Arrasmith and wife, Shelby; three great grandchildren, Shana Arrasmith, Quinton Arrasmith and Brynlee Arrasmith; and a sister, Oneta Sweeden, Grapevine, Ark.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, John Doolen, minister will officiate. Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday and the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
