  • A longtime business now has a new owner. Louise Butterfield purchased the business, Jamaica Me Hot, 902 W. South St., Neosho, on Feb. 25. Butterfield and her husband, Todd, have rental properties here in Neosho. The Neosho Daily News caught up with her and asked a few questions about the business.
NDN: Why did you decide to purchase the business?
Butterfield: To get off of a ladder and a roof and get into an office building. I knew Audrey Russell (the previous owner) at church. We talked a few times, she was pretty serious about selling.
NDN: What does Jamaica Me Hot offer?
Butterfield: Right now, we have tanning, full service beauty salon, so there is jell nails, massage, hair, and we will have acrylic nails and spray tanning soon.
NDN: How many employees do you have?
Butterfield: I have three part-time employees and everyone else rents booth space (i.e. hair cuts or massage) from me.
NDN: How has the business been since you took it over?
Butterfield: I didn't realize how busy it was going to be. I am happy. I like it. We hope to expand, get some more services available.
NDN: Are you going to do any changes to the business?
Butterfield: Not a whole lot is going to change here, the staff is going to stay the same, and we are still operating the same beds, the same packages. We are just going to do some cosmetic changes. Otherwise, nothing much is going to change.
NDN: Are you going to have an open house soon?
Butterfield: Yes, the open house will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 6.
    NDN: How are your employees?
Butterfield: I couldn't have prayed and gotten a better staff. They are wonderful. I like them all.
Hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. For more information, contact 451-8886.
