The Neosho Wildcats had a chance to sweep their third tournament of the season on Saturday.
After a 5-4 victory over Stuttgart (Ark.) on Friday, the Wildcats got past West Plains 7-5 in the semifinals before falling to Harrison in the championship game.
The Wildcats (7-2) started their run with a walk-off victory over Stuttgart.
Leading 1-0 in the fifth, the Wildcats watched as Stuttgart plated four runs in the top of the inning to take a 4-1 lead. It would remain that way until the seventh, however, when the Wildcats would put up four of their own, winning it on a walk-off single by Chris Paullus in the seventh.
The hit was Paullus’ only one of the game, as five other Wildcats had one hit each: Trey Turner, Brendan Craig, Tyler Johnson, Jayce Parmley and Kody Kelly. Trey Turner started on the mound for the Wildcats, but was saddled with a no-decision after striking out seven and allowing four runs on two hits in 42/3 innings. Lane Brodie picked up the win in relief with two strikeouts and no runs in 21/3.
Stats for the West Plains and Harrison games were not available at press time.
