After losing the first two games of the season, the Diamond Wildcats are now winners of five straight as they downed Golden City 11-0 in five innings in the Spring River Valley Conference opener at Diamond High School on Thursday.
The Wildcats (5-2, 1-0 SRVC) got a two run single from Clayton Rolf in the second that helped spark the nine-run burst. They added single runs in each of the first and fourth innings, as well.
Jordan Divine started on the hill for the Wildcats and was dominant. The junior earned the win after pitching a complete-game shutout with three hits, eight strikeouts and one walk.
Rolf led the team offensively with two hits and three RBIs, while teammate Brodie Bien had two hits, a double and his first homer of the season, with an RBI. Jeremy Morris, Zach Renfro, Jordan Douglas and Aaron Spence each had a hit and an RBI for the Wildcats. Ryan Jinks finished with two RBI and Kyle Williams had one.
Diamond returns to action on Tuesday when they begin pool play against Fairland (Okla.) at 4 p.m. at the Mickey Mantle Classic in Commerce, Okla. The Wildcats also face Wyandotte (Okla.) at 7 p.m. Thursday in the tournament.
