  • One was the magic number for the Neosho Lady Wildcats at the Ozark Tournament this weekend as they returned home 1-1-1 in three games.
The Lady Wildcats opened the tourney with a 4-0 victory on Friday against Ozark’s B team, before falling 7-0 to Carl Junction on Saturday morning and tying Rogersville 1-1 later in the evening.
The Lady Wildcats dominated the Lady Tigers as Karina Barambayeva scored at 27:00 to make it 1-0 at halftime. Second half goals by Paige O’Neill at 51:00, Haley Long at 63:00 and Macy Smith at 70:00 capped the scoring.
Senior Matty Liedtke returned to the goal for Neosho and preserved the shutout with two saves.
After stumbling against the Lady Bulldogs on Saturday, the Lady Wildcats played to a draw with Rogersville in a hard-fought match.
Neosho struggled to break through in the first half, but finally found the net in the second half when senior Tori Eads redirected a corner kick from Veronica Weber and found the net for the only Neosho goal of the contest.
Neosho returns to action at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Republic.
