  • The Newton County Sheriff's Department recovered a stolen truck, construction equipment, log splitter and components of a meth lab after receiving a tip Tuesday, April 2.
Chief Deputy Chris Jennings said deputies found the stolen property at 12866 Klausen Lane, in rural Neosho.
Authorities arrested Tim Sargent, of the home.
"We got a tip actually from Jasper County," Jennings said. "They had received a tip that the stolen property was at this location."
Sargent, 49, was arrested and charged with unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, a class D felony, and with possession of chemicals with intent to manufacture, a class C felony.
Jennings said no charges have been filed yet regarding the stolen items.
He said the truck, a 2004 Chevy, was stolen from Fort Scott, Kan., while the 2002 model Caterpillar Skid Steer was taken in Jasper County, and the log splitter was stolen out of Joplin.
"There were components of a meth lab, it wasn't operational at the time, we did locate that in a vehicle on the property," Jennings said.
According to Missouri CaseNet, Sargent plead not guilty to the charges and has been referred to a public defender.
He is scheduled to appear before Newton County Judge Gregory Stremel for a pre-trial conference at 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 23.
