After sweeping a doubleheader in easy fashion on Saturday, the Roughriders swept the series on Sunday, winning 19-0 and 13-3 to move to 30-5 overall this season, 13-1 in Region 16.
While Preston Tarkington rolled on the mound, the Crowder bats rolled St. Charles’ pitching for 19 runs in five innings — including a 14-run fifth in which they sent 19 batters to the plate.
Tarkington, meanwhile, cruised with eight strikeouts and two walks in five innings while scattering four hits.
Cody Althouse led the team at the plate as he went 4 for 4 with three RBIs and a run scored in the leadoff spot, while Matt Burgess, Ty White and C.J. Webster all had three hits. Chris Scroggins, Tony Sandifer, Devin Perry, Lucas Feddersen, Jordan Dey and Ashton Roberts each had a hit in the 19-hit attack. Scroggins, Perry, Dey and White all doubled.
The Roughriders had another huge inning in the nightcap as they plated 11 runs in the fourth to down St. Charles 13-3 in eight innings.
Althouse again had four hits and three RBIs to lead the team as three of his hits, two doubles and a triple, went for extra-bases. Meanwhile, Scroggins homered as he and Feddersen each had three hits, three RBIs and scored twice. Feddersen doubled twice in the game, while Ryan Lazo had two hits and scored three runs. Sandifer, White, Webster and Dey all had hits.
Cody Jones earned the victory on the mound for the Roughriders as he scattered six hits and allowed three runs on a walk and two strikeouts in five innings. Andrew Schwaab worked the final two scoreless innings in relief with two strikeouts.
The Roughriders are on the road today with a 4 p.m. tilt at Eastern Oklahoma State, before returning for one nine-inning game against Neosho County CC on Wednesday at Roughrider Field.
