GRANBY — The Granby Fire Chief Kevin Johnson made a request to the Granby City Council during Tuesday's council meeting, held at city hall.
The request was for approval to apply for a radio grant.
"It is a state grant, it is 100 percent state funds," Granby City Clerk Paula Carsel said. "It has to be in by April 15."
The city is not out any money to pursue this grant.
"It is not matching, it is 100 percent state funds," she said.
The council approved Johnson's request.
In other business, the council:
• Appointed Melinda Stribling as mayor pro-tem;
• Approved of the hiring of Stephen Lance Piatt to the street department;
• Approved of Kevin Hopper to be the animal control officer;
• Approved the 2011-2012 audit.
