Barbara Eller House Stephens, 82, Joplin entered into rest at her home following an illness. She was born on December 14, 1930 in Neosho to James Marvin and Rena (Manz) Eller.
Barbara was a lifelong area resident. She attended Meeks Grade School and Midway High School, graduating in 1948. She then attended SMS in Springfield,. She worked as a secretary at the Newton County Health Department, Crowder College, Rocketdyne, Newton County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and Clark Funeral Home. She was a member of the Baptist Church and the Order of Eastern Star; Anderson Chap. 348; formerly Neosho Chapter 192.
Barbara married Allen R. House on Dec. 23, 1951, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 13, 1979. Together, they had four children. She is survived by two sons; Russell House, Rocky House and wife, Traci; two daughters; Debra House, Sheila (House) Terry; six grandchildren; Jerah (Darden) Liedtke and husband, Matt, Vanessa Lane; Katie (House) Brown and husband Kirby, Morgan House, Taylor House and wife Mayumi, Steven Elliott; and six great-grandchildren: Matty Liedtke, Roza Lane, Chase Liedtke, Kennedy Moore, Austin Allen Brown, and Hanly Hina House.
As per Barbara’s wishes, private family graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013, at IOOF Cemetery in Newtonia, Rev. Ralph Walker officiating.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Stark City Fire Barn from 5-7 p.m.
