  • Dalan Merriman multitasked well for the Seneca Indians on Monday.
On the mound the senior righthander went the distance to collect the shutout and the win with 11 strikeouts and one walk. At the plate he slugged two hits — including a two-run double in the sixth — drove in two runs and scored three times. Colton Webber, meanwhile, led the offense with three hits — including a home run and a triple — and finished with five RBIs. Cole Lankford and Braden Larson each had hits, with Larson driving in two on a double and Lankford scoring once.
“We started off kind of slow and finllay got the bats going there towards the end of the game,” Indians coach Chris Yust said.
The Indians (9-3) got going in the third when Webber connected on a two-run homer to break a scoreless tie. He drove in another run in the fifth to account for the first three runs of the game. Webber and Larson each punched two-run doubles in the sixth, and Webber drove in two more in the inning as the Indians scored six times in the frame.
The Indians have a Big 8 Conference showdown at 5 p.m. today at Aurora.
