  • The Diamond Wildcats are some kind of hot right now.
The Wildcats hit the 10-win plateau on Tuesday after topping Jasper 7-3 in a Spring River Valley Conference showdown. They hammered Liberal 11-0 in six innings on Monday.
Diamond (10-4, 3-1 SRVC) got a pair of important insurance runs against the Eagles when starting pitcher Austin Singleton helped the cause on offense with a two-run homer in the sixth to make it 7-3. Ryan Jinks also had a big day at the plate with three hits, two of which went for doubles. Kolton Harville also had a hit.
Singleton started the game on the hill and lasted 1 1/3 innings in his first career varsity start. Jeremy Morris relieved him in the second and earned the victory with five strikeouts over the next 2 2/3 frames. Brodie Bien picked up the save with five strikeouts over the final two innings.
On Monday the Wildcats rapped 11 hits at the plate to back starting pitcher Zach Renfro, who threw a two-hitter with eight strikeouts and a walk to earn the win.
Kyle Williams led the Wildcats with a two-run homer and a double to go along with three RBIs. Jordan Douglas also had two hits, including a double, and drove in four runs.
Diamond’s B team defeated Jasper on Tuesday 6-1.
The Wildcats entertain Wyandotte at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
