Neosho County pitchers Jeremy Mansur and Jon Furlong combined to pitch a three-hitter as the Panthers blanked the No. 1 Crowder Roughriders 10-0 in five innings on Tuesday.
The game was scoreless through 2.5 innings, but the Panthers went wild in the bottom of the third as they struck for eight runs, but only one earned, on Roughriders starter Connor Eller. They went on to score two more in the fourth, again, only one earned, as they pulled away.
Mansour didn’t overpower anyone, but was efficient to say the least. He scattered all three hits with three strikeouts and two walks in four innings, while Furlong tossed a scoreless fifth on one walk.
Chris Scroggins, Tony Sandifer and Lucas Feddersen had the only hits for Crowder. Jake O’Brien and Bobby Wernes had two hits apiece for the Panthers.
Crowder (32-9) entertains Fort Scott Community College in a nine-inning game at 2 p.m. today at Roughrider Field.
