  • One night after beating up on the Purdy Eagles 11-0 in five innings, the Patriots fell in a Big 8 Conference game at Aurora 3-1.
On Friday the Patriots scored four runs in each of the second and fifth innings, two in the third and one in the first in their romp over the Eagles.
Rocky Liveoak earned the win on the mound for the Patriots after allowing two hits over four innings with four strikeouts and four walks. Dillon Bunch struck out one in the fifth inning in relief.
Liveoak helped out his own cause at the plate where he went 3 for 3 with three doubles, an RBI and scored four runs. Bunch, who had one hit, also doubled and drove in three runs. Sam Swartz had one hit, stole two bases, drove in two runs and scored three times. Jacob Patterson doubled and drove in three RBIs and Dustin Letts singled and drove in a run.
The Houn' Dawgs managed to squeak out a win on Saturday despite being stymied on the mound by Swartz, who allowed no runs on just two hits and struck out 10 with one walk in the loss.
The Patriots (8-5, 1-2 Big 8 Conference) were plagued by a season-high eight errors, which aided the Houn' Dawgs as they scored one in the second and two in the third.
Swartz drove in the Patriots' run with a single in the second inning.
East Newton travels to Cassville for a Big 8 showdown at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
