  • A Seneca man has pled guilty in the death of his girlfriend’s 22-month-old son.
    Zachary D. Roland, 21, entered a guilty-plea on Thursday, April 18, to a charge of first-degree involuntary manslaughter, a class C felony.
He was sentenced to seven years in prison, and must pay court costs, according to Missouri CaseNet.
Roland was arrested June 28, after deputies with the Newton County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to 2394 Holly Road, in Seneca, in response to an infant that was not breathing.
The infant, Bradley Beck, was pronounced dead upon arrival to a local hospital, Sheriff Ken Copeland said at the time.
“The child’s mother’s boyfriend had the child in the shower with him,” Copeland told the Daily News in a July interview. “He had been crying and everybody else heard the child quit crying. He gave a statement to detectives that he had struck the child, the child slipped out of his hands and fell and hit his head. That is the statement that he gave.”
