  • JOPLIN — Organizers are gearing up for the second annual Pink Ribbon Gala 2013: Diamonds Are Forever, Let's Bond Together, fundraiser for Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks, on Friday, July 26.
Even though the event is three and a half months away, Kristi Seibert, outreach director for the foundation, said they are getting a good response.
"We have already got 80 percent of our tables already spoken for," she said. "The community has truly embraced the foundation and its mission. For the past year, more and more people have seen first hand the good work that the foundation does with our local families."
Doors open at 6 p.m., and the event includes a buffet-style dinner, music/dancing, silent and live auction.
"The Pink Ribbon Gala is the Four States area's largest fundraiser for BCFO," Seibert said. "Last year, it raised $90,000 and our goal this year is $120,000. The foundation provided close to $110,000 in services to our four state families. In 2012, that was just pure dollars that had no overhead attached to it. Our numbers of families that we are servicing in the four state area already the first three months of 2013 have grown by a huge percentage, so obviously, the Pink Ribbon Gala is the financial backbone to our mission of providing help and hope directly to families in our area that have been diagnosed with breast cancer. The other thing that has picked up as well is our mammogram program, the word has gotten out more about our mammogram services, and now we have a contract with Freeman Hospital and Mercy and also Mercy of Carthage."
Attire is semi-formal. Ticket prices range from individual tickets of $150 each up to sponsorships to $10,000.
"We have about 10 or a dozen businesses down in Neosho already on board," Seibert said. "We are way ahead of last year, as far as sponsorships go, I would say we already have sponsorships that equal what we got in sponsorships last year."
Seibert encourages people to get their tickets soon for this event.
"Those folks that were there last year, most of those have already recommitted right away," she said. "It speaks volumes that the event was an enjoyable event, believe in the cause and that is the most important thing that we do have the community support so that we can continue providing help and assistance to anybody that needs our help."
