The Pierce City Eagles scored twice in the top of the seventh inning and downed Diamond 7-6 in a varsity Spring River Valley Conference game at Diamond High School.

Diamond’s Ryan Jinks had a career day as the senior righty struck out 10 batters on the mound, and struck for two homers and five RBIs in a 3 for 3 performance at the plate. His first homer was a three-run shot in the bottom of the first inning that gave the Wildcats a 3-2 lead. He added a two-run blast in the bottom of the fifth to tie it 5-5 after the Eagles had scored three in the top of the fifth.

Jordan Douglas, Brodie Bien and Kolton Harville had two hits apiece while Clayton Rolf had a single.

Perhaps it was just one of those nights for the Wildcats (12-5, 3-2 SRVC), who missed a chance to tack on more runs in the fourth when they lined into a double play with one out and the bases loaded.
Diamond travels to Washburn, Mo., to take on Southwest at 4:30 p.m. today.
