  • Three big innings were enough for Fort Scott Community College to get past Crowder 12-10 on Wednesday.
    The Greyhounds scored their runs in bunches as they plated three in the first, five in the third and four in the fifth. The Roughriders, meanwhile, had no answer after allowing a 6-3 lead escape them in the third.
    Tony Sandifer had a big day at the plate for the Roughriders with three doubles as he finished 3 for 4 with two RBIs and three runs scored to lead the offense. Chris Scroggins also had three hits and scored three times, while Matt Burgess had two hits and two RBIs, Ryan Lazo had two hits, and Cody Althouse, Justin Sunde, Ty White, C.J. Webster and Lucas Feddersen all had hits.
    Connor Eller took the loss for the Roughriders after allowing 10 runs (seven earned) on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings. Ryan Smith surrendered two runs on three hits in 1 1/3 innings, while Jake Barnes and Cody Jones each tossed a scoreless inning of relief.
    Crowder (43-11) entertains Longview Community College in a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Roughrider Field. Those games will serve as the final games of the regular season for the Roughriders, who begin play in the Region 16 Tournament on Wednesday in Farmington, Mo. The Roughriders are the top seed and earned a bye in the first round of the tournament.
