George W. Young, 96, Granby, a longtime Webb City resident, passed away at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at the Granby House Nursing Home.
George was born June 2, 1916, in Stark City. He was a resident of Webb City from 1954 until 1995 when he moved to Granby. George was employed for more than 20 years with the Sperry-Vickers Corp. in Joplin before retiring in 1961. He was a member of the Silver Moon Full Gospel Church, north of Neosho.
George was preceded in death by two wives, Louise and Vera. Survivors include two sons, Jack Young and wife, Delfina, Irving, Texas, and Mike Young and wife, Sherry, Webb City; two daughters, Jean Teachman, Broken Arrow, Okla., and Mary Bullis and husband, Mike, Ft. Myers, Fla.; a step-son, Larry Gary and wife, Jo, Granby; a step-daughter, Carol Fry and husband, Bill, Diamond; 14 grandchildren; several step-grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Mt. Hope Cemetery open air chapel in Webb City with Pastor Philip Barber officiating.
Memorial contributions are requested to the Silver Moon Full Gospel Church in care of the Funeral Home.
Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 1-5 p.m. Sunday.
