  • I drink coffee with Jim Donoho from Diamond. Jim was a long time official in the aerospace industry locally. Recently, he brought in this chart which suggests that we view the actions of the young and elderly differently.
While their elders may fuss at the younger set, most everyone envies the youth. Many young people are not savvy enough to realize that some things are impossible. Oblivious to this reality, they go ahead and accomplish it anyway. On the basis of experience, many older folks would never attempt the challenges they achieved in their innocence. The fact that the military is not looking for 40-year-olds should tell us something. I think all senior citizens will agree that the good Lord was correct with his plan for young people to have children.
Maybe we older folks should be a little more restrained in assessing the shortcomings of our youth. They will have to work hard to screw things up worse than we have. It doesn't seem to bother us that we are dropping a $16 trillion debt on their shoulders.
