  • Not scheduled to play again until the second round of the Class 4, District 11 Tournament next week, the Seneca Indians squeezed in a last-second addition to the schedule when they traveled to take on Clever Monday.
The Indians won the game 7-2.
Clever jumped ahead with two runs in the bottom of the second inning, but the Indians tied it with single runs in the third and fourth innings to make it 2-2. Colton Webber led off the Indians’ fifth with a double and went to third on a grounder before scoring on a groundout by Payton Rawlins to give the Indians their first, and last lead of the game.
Braden Larson doubled later in the inning to drive in two more runs as the Indians pushed across five in the inning to take a 7-2 lead.
Webber picked up the win for the Indians on the mound as he worked three innings in relief and struck out four. Dalan Merriman started the game and struck out three in three innings. Rawlins struck out two in the seventh.
Merriman, Webber, Rawlins, Cade Cornett, Cole Lankford and Larson each had a hit for the Indians. Merriman finished with two RBIs and a run scored, Webber doubled and scored once, Rawlins had an RBI triple, Cornett scored twice and drove in a run, while Lankford and Larson both had an RBI and a run scored.
The Indians (17-4) have had their game against Carthage cancelled, meaning this was likely their final regular season game barring a late scheduling change, according to coach Chris Yust. They’ll begin play in the Class 4, District 11 Tournament at 4:30 p.m. Monday versus the winner of McDonald County and Cassville on Saturday.
    Seneca’s B team defeated Clever 3-0.
