The Diamond baseball team picked up a pair of victories this week as they closed out the regular season with a 10-0 blanking of College Heights in six innings on Tuesday at Diamond High School.
The Wildcats also throttled Lockwood 17-0 in five innings during Senior Night on Monday at DHS.
On Tuesday, the Wildcats cruised behind junior pitcher Jordan Divine, who moved to 7-0 on the mound this season after firing the complete game shutout while allowing just four hits.
Offensively, the Wildcats scored three runs in the first, one in the fourth and three in each of the fifth and sixth innings against the Cougars.
Senior Ryan Jinks was perfect at the plate as he went 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, while Zach Renfro had two hits, including a double, and Brodie Bien had two hits and an RBI.
Jeremy Morris, Kolton Harville and Douglas each had a hit.
The Wildcats (17-6, 6-2 Spring River Valley Conference) made Senior Night a memorable one on Monday. They pounded out 19 hits in the game and scored four runs in the first, three in the second, eight in the third and one in each of the fourth and fifth while cruising to an easy victory over Lockwood.
Jinks started on the bump for the Wildcats and improved his record to 4-3 this season in dealing the shutout.
Renfro set the tone for the Wildcats in the first inning when he popped a three-run homer to spark the rally. Renfro finished with three hits, the homer and a double, and three RBIs. Douglas, meanwhile, slugged three doubles, while Austin Singleton, Jinks, Harville and Logan Nickolaisen had two hits apiece. Morris, Clayton Rolf and Bien each had a single.
Jinks, Harville and Nickolaisen each doubled in the game.
The Wildcats pounded five doubles in the eight-run third.
Diamond takes on Sarcoxie at 11 a.m. Saturday in the opening round of the Class 3, District 11 Tournament in Clever, Mo.
