In a final tune up before district play opens for them on Monday, the Seneca baseball team took on Miller in a late-scheduled regular season finale and came away with a 4-3 win in eight innings on Friday.
In extras, Cade Cornett lined a double with two outs and scored on a Brett Roark single to give the Indians a 4-3 lead.
Payton Rawlins started on the hill and struck out five on three hits while allowing no runs in three innings. Colton Webber worked the ensuing three and gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits with eight strikeouts. Dalan Merriman picked up the win with two innings of relief with two strikeouts and a run allowed on two hits.
Merriman also led the team at the plate with two doubles, while Kyler Ng also had two hits and scored a run. Mary Mailes had a hit and a run scored while Cornett and Roark had a hit each.
The Indians scored three runs in the first inning and Miller tacked on two in the sixth and one in the seventh.
Seneca (18-4) takes on Cassville at 4:30 p.m. Monday in the Class 4, District 11 Tournament at Seneca.
