It took two overtimes to decide a winner at the Class 2, District 12 Soccer Tournament on Monday, but the Carthage Lady Tigers came out on top 3-2 over Neosho.
The Lady Wildcats finish the season 5-14-1.
A goal by Neosho’s Emily Reed tied the game 2-2 with about 10 minutes left in regulation to send it to overtime. The Lady Tigers, however, got a goal in the sudden death portion of overtime, 11:14 into the second overtime to win it.
“The girls saved their best for last,” Wildcats coach Steve Schnackenberg said. “They have improved the last weeks and played their way into this game and gave us a chance to win.”
The Lady Tigers (13-10) out shot Neosho 21-9, with 17 on goal. Neosho keeper Matty Liedtke saved 14 shots.
