  • A fire on Moberly Lane that claimed the life of a Neosho man last week has been determined accidental.
Mike O'Connell, communications director at the Missouri State Fire Marshal's Office, said on Tuesday that it was determined that the fire at 13571 Moberly Lane was caused by an electrical problem.
The Neosho Fire Department was dispatched to the home of Charles and Doris Parsons around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 8.
The single-story home was fully engulfed in flames at the time of their arrival.
Charles Parsons, 80, was killed in the fire, while his wife, Doris Parsons, 74, was taken to a Springfield hospital for treatment.
Firefighters from the Neosho Fire Department, Granby Fire Department and Diamond Fire Department battled the blaze, and the state fire marshal remained on scene into the night investigating the cause of the fire.
