  • Dorothy Jewell (Wooldridge) Taylor, 87, widow of the late U.S. Congressman Gene Taylor of Sarcoxie, Mo., passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013 at her home after a sudden illness.

  • Dorothy Jewell (Wooldridge) Taylor, 87, widow of the late U.S. Congressman Gene Taylor of Sarcoxie, Mo., passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013 at her home after a sudden illness.
    Dorothy was born July 10, 1925 in Kansas City, Mo., to the union of the late Floyd B. and Agnes C. (Welborn) Wooldridge. The family later moved to Sarcoxie, Mo., where she graduated from Sarcoxie High School in 1943. She worked at First National Band and Gene Taylor Ford Sales as a secretary and was still an active board member of Gene Taylor Museum and Library in Sarcoxie, Missouri, and a member of Sarcoxie United Methodist Church.
    She was united in marriage to Gene Taylor on July 26, 1947, and to this union two children were born. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and loved spending time and caring for her family. She enjoyed greeting visitors and friends at Gene Taylor Museum, and loved playing bridge. She was a great lady and a friend to everyone she met. Dorothy was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Taylor, son, Larry Taylor, son in law, Buster Cobine, one brother, Carl Wooldridge and one great granddaughter, Taylor Shaner.
    She is survived by her daughter, Linda Cobine of Sarcoxie, Mo., grandchildren, Heath Cobine and wife Missy of Sarcoxie, Mo., Heather Cobine and Chip Taylor both of Joplin, Mo., Chelsea Corp and husband Brad of Ozark, Mo., and Jamie Shaner and husband Chris, of Nevada, Mo., great grandchildren, Clifton and Coleson Cobine, Hannah, Jack and Owen Corp, and Roper and Gage Shaner, sister, Lola Craig and husband Bill of Bella Vista, Ark., and one brother, Floyd Wooldridge of Witter, Ark.
    Those honoring her life as pallbearers will be Heath Cobine, Chip Taylor, Brad Corp, Mark Hasseberg, Mike Wooldridge and Chris Shaner and honorary pallbearers will be Dan Craig, Joel Gabriele, Jared Gabriele, Caleb Gabriele and Mike Gabriele.
    Funeral services for Mrs. Taylor are 10 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Sarcoxie United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Sarcoxie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sarcoxie United Methodist Church, 202 So. 11th Street, Sarcoxie, Mo 64862.
