Sue Smith-Williams, 74, Joplin, died May 29, 2013, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, following a six week illness.
Sue was born Sept. 5, 1938, at Southwest City, Okla., and was a lifelong area resident. She was the manager of Montgomery Ward Catalog Store in Neosho, then worked as office manager at Joplin Cement for 17 years and retired from Joplin Concrete in 2005. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Joplin.
Sue married Garry Dean Williams on Jan. 1, 1996, at Las Vegas, Nev., and he survives.
She is also survived by two children, Deborah Strahl and husband, Jonn, Springfield, Mo., and Alan Armstrong, Garfield, Ark.; three stepchildren, Jason Williams, Joplin, Justin Williams and wife, Connie, Centerton, Ark., and Marcia Williams, Minot, N.D.; six grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Thressa (Forbes) Loftis; and a brother, Bill Loftis.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 3, at the Fellowship Baptist Church, Joplin, Rex Wakefield, minister, will officiate. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery, Stella and serving as pallbearers will be Caleb Byron, Micheal Armstrong, Justin Williams, Jonn Strahl, Rob Tucker and Christian Byron. Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday and the family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
