  • ANDERSON — A McDonald County man was arrested Friday after allegedly shooting another man in the chest with a small caliber revolver.
Waylon Rolls, 39, faces felony charges of first-degree assault and armed criminal action after allegedly shooting and wounding David Tanner, 35 of Noel.
McDonald County Chief Deputy David Roark said the shooting occurred around 5:30 p.m. after a scuffle between the two men took place at Roll’s residence, at 615 Law Horn Road, west of Anderson.
According to the probable cause statement, the argument centered around Roll’s wife, Kathern, who had lived for the past year with Tanner.
According to the statement, Kathern Rolls, 34, was moving back into her husband’s residence, when Tanner showed up to the home and the two men began to fight.
“David went over to Waylon’s house and they got into a verbal argument that turned physical,” Roark said.
Tanner was taken to Freeman West Hospital for treatment, though Roark said he has since been released.
“The injuries weren’t that serious, it missed the heart and lungs,” Roark said.
Meanwhile, Rolls has also been charged with tampering with physical evidence, a class D felony.
“After the shooting, Waylon Rolls discarded the weapon used during the attack by taking the pistol involved and throwing it into a pond in the field next to his residence,” the statement reads.
Rolls is being held at the McDonald County Jail, with bond set at $100,000.
