Lesley Wade Ford, 74, went home to the Lord Wednesday, June 5, 2013.
He was born Nov. 21, 1938, in Marked Tree, Ark., to Clayton and Lillie (Hill) Ford.
Les is survived by his wife, Connie; four sons, Mark, Norman, Alton, and Dana; four daughters, Muriel, Nadia, Stephanie and Kim; two brothers residing in the state of California; two sisters residing in the state of Arizona; 20 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and countless friends he has made throughout the years.
Les was preceded in death by his mother; father; three sisters; and one great-granddaughter.
Les served in the United States Navy serving with the Special Forces Unit for 20 years and another 20 years with the Civil Service. After retiring, Les moved to Oklahoma, where he enjoyed cattle ranching for 15 years. He later moved to Fairview, where he was an active member of the Southwest Missouri Tri-Rollers Association as well as serving on the city council in Fairview.
Les was very active in the community. He had a heart and passion for the young people and their future for tomorrow. He was a true friend and neighbor to all those that knew him.
Memorial services will be held at noon on Saturday, at the Fairview Baptist Church, 117 W. Garber. Dinner will immediately follow the service at the Hammons Community Center, Fairview.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church, Fairview.
Cremation services are under the direction of Midland Cremations, Joplin.
