Seven people ranging in age from 34 to 7 were hurt in a one-vehicle crash that took place at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday on Maple Drive, three miles south of Racine.

Laura J. Garr, 33, of Backiff, Texas, driver of the vehicle; and a passenger, Jodi M. Wakely, 34, suffered moderate injuries in the crash. Others who had minor injuries included Christopher Hencey, 16; Levi M. Potter, 14; Alexus M. Hency, 9; Gracie A. Phillips, 9; and Brandon W. Wakeley, 7. All were treated at Joplin’s Freeman West Hospital.
The crash happened as a southbound GMC pickup driven by Garr failed to negotiate a curve and ran off of the roadway. Three people were ejected from the vehicle, a patrol report said.

Jodi Wakeley, Alexus Hency and Christopher Hency were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, but the others were, a patrol report noted.
