A Grove, Okla., man has been charged with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action, after allegedly robbing a McDonald County convenience store at gunpoint early Tuesday morning.
Matthew W. Adkins, 29, allegedly entered the Filling Station convenience store, located at the intersection of Highway 43 and Highway O, near Southwest City, at approximately 2:34 a.m. on Tuesday, according to McDonald County Sheriff Michael Hall.
When the suspect entered the store, he allegedly pulled out a pistol and demanded money from the clerk.
The suspect was apprehended less than three hours later, walking on Highway 43, south of the convenience store.
He was located by a sergeant with the Delaware County (Okla.) Sheriff's Office and a deputy from the Benton County (Ark.) Sheriff's Office.
Authorities with the Anderson Police Department, Noel Marshal's Office, Delaware County Sheriff's Office, Newton County Sheriff's Office and the Benton County Sheriff's Office assisted the McDonald County Sheriff's Office with the search.
Adkins was arrested and taken to the McDonald County Jail on $2,500 cash bond.
He is scheduled to appear for arraignment at 9 a.m. today before McDonald County Judge John LePage.
