The Neosho Police Department is urging residents to be cautious of individuals attempting to enter their homes under false pretenses.
According to a city news release, around noon Monday a male suspect entered an elderly resident's home on Morrow Avenue, after knocking on the door and stating that he had something in his eye.
Once the suspect was allowed inside, he entered a bedroom, removed a wallet from the resident's purse and left.
The homeowner did not notice the missing wallet until after the suspect had left the residence.
The victim was not injured in the incident.
Individuals are urged to not allow those they do not know into their homes. Residents with any suspicion are encouraged to contact the Neosho Police Department at 451-8000, or, if the situation is an emergency, to dial 911.
