Dr. Sammy G. Turner, 75, Neosho, "checked out and returned the key to the room the Lord let him use" on July 18, 2013.

Dr. Turner was born Nov. 9, 1937, in Van Buren, Ark., the son of Sam K. and Zelma (Raines) Turner. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. For 50 years, Sam served the Lord in various ministry positions, including 25 years as a missionary in Kenya, East Africa with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Sam and Bonnie (Sherman) were married on Aug. 27, 1963, at Little Rock, Ark., and she survives, as well as two children, James David Turner and wife, Rachelle, Independence, Mo. and Elizabeth Anne Taggard, Arkadelphia, Ark.; and five grandchildren: Brackin, Kassia and Brianna Turner and Kenneth and Kyle Taggard.

Services will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Neosho. Interment will be at the Neosho Memorial Park Cemetery, south of Neosho. Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho on Monday from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. and the family will receive friends Monday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Dr. Turner be made to Calvary Baptist Church Missions, c/o Clark Funeral Home, P.O. Box 66, Neosho, 64850.
