  • Merle Dean Thompson, 66, Goodman, was called to Heaven on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, with his loving family by his side.
    Dean was born on Jan. 22, 1947, in Anderson, to the late Merle Floyd and Edna Madge (Ledford) Thompson.
    He married the love if his life, Wanda Louise Dyer, on Dec. 6, 1968, in Neosho, and to this union two daughters were born. He lived all of his life in the Anderson, Seneca and Goodman area.Dean worked for Premier Turbines in Neosho, for 44 years as a machinist; he planned to retire in April of 2014 after receiving his 45 year pin from the company. His spare time was spent on his farm in Goodman, where he loved farming, the outdoors and his John Deere tractors. Dean will forever be known as a hard worker. He was kind hearted and loved his animals. Dean cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren.
    Dean is survived by his wife of 44 years, Wanda Thompson of the home; two daughters, Audrey Ann Alfaro, Los Angeles, Calif., Sandra Jean Suggs, San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, Oleta Tosh, Goodman, Erma Hunnicutt, Noel; twin grandsons, Sean Luke Dobson, Kyle Denber Dobson; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Ashton Dobson; as well as a host of other family, friends and neighbors who will dearly miss Dean and his kind, loving nature.
    Funeral services for Dean Thompson will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home. Chaplain Christine Iannucilli will officiate. Burial will follow the service at the Thompson-Grove Cemetery in Seneca. Visitation will be held from 4 until 6 p.m. today at the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home, the family will receive friends at this time.
