FDR's court packing plan fails in the Senate

FDR's 1937 New Deal reforms included the Judiciary Reorganization Bill. This bill would have increased the US Supreme Court by six and all would have been appointed by FDR.

On July 22, 1937, the Senate failed to pass the bill as written and sent it back to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
