Dennis W. Harpool, 66, Haymarket, Va., passed away on Aug. 10, 2013, after a long illness.
He is a former resident of Neosho, where he attended Neosho High School and was a charter member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. He obtained a bachelor's degree in political science from Southwest Missouri State College in 1968 and a master's degree in political science from the University of Arkansas in 1972.
In 1969, he served with distinction in the U.S. Army as a military adviser in Vietnam being awarded two Bronze Stars for valor.
Following his military duty, he served as a U.S. Government Civil Servant retiring from the Pentagon in 2008 after 33 years of service.
He is survived by his wife Cathy Harpool, Haymarket, Va.; and his two brothers, Lonnie Harpool and Terry Harpool, both residing in Florida.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, at the Neosho IOOF Cemetery, Neosho. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home, Fairfax, Va. Friends may call from noon to 7 p.m. Friday, at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, and the family will receive friends from 5 -7 p.m.
