Eugenia "Jean" Hailey, 95, Neosho, died Aug. 26, 2013, at Medicalodge in Neosho, following a sudden illness.
Jean was born Dec. 28, 1917, in the Monarch Springs Community of Newton County, the daughter of Hershel W. and Hattie (Davis) Cockrell. She was a lifelong area resident and was a graduate of the University of Arkansas with a master's degree in counseling and had taught in the Elm Springs Community, Midway, Neosho and Tri-Way School districts, retiring as a guidance counselor. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Neosho.
Jean and Robert L. 'Bob' Hailey were married on June 30, 1942, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 1999.
She is survived by her son, Alan Hailey and wife, Lynne, Kimberling City, Mo.; two grandchildren, Kim O'Malley and husband, Martin, Dunlap, Ill.; Steve Hailey and wife, Tonia, Collierville, Tenn.; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Dr. Jerry Siegel will officiate. Interment will follow in the Neosho IOOF Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until service time on Thursday.
