  • Maudie Bell Pettit, 97, Neosho, died Aug. 28, 2013, at National Health Care in Joplin following an extended illness.
    Maudie was born April 8, 1916, in Mountain View, Okla., and moved from Texas to McDonald County in 1951, resided in Diamond and then moved to Neosho in 1975 from Diamond. She was the last of 10 children, was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Neosho.
    Maudie and Wylie Pettit were married in 1939 and he preceded her in death in 1975.
    She is survived by a son, Eugene Pettit and wife, Betsy, of Neosho; a daughter, Ila Virginia Lewis and husband, Stanley, Carl Junction; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
    Private family graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Neosho IOOF Cemetery. Rev. Roger Brumley will officiate.
    Contributions in memory of Maudie may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, c/o Clark Funeral Home, P.O. Box 66, Neosho, 64850.
