  • Wilma N. Lasiter, 95, Neosho, died Aug. 29, 2013, at Granby House following a five-month illness.
    Wilma was born Feb. 24, 1918, in Granby, the daughter of Orville and Effie (Hobson) Farmer. She was a lifelong area resident and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Neosho.
    Wilma and Wayne Lasiter were united in marriage on Oct. 27, 1934, and he preceded her in death on May 2, 1983.
    Their marriage was blessed with the birth of five girls, who were affectionately known as the “Lasiter Girls.” During their growing up years, Wilma was a homemaker and was active with them in 4-H, FHA and PTA. In later years, she was a member of the Rebecca Lodge and worked five years at Sale Memorial Hospital with the cooking staff.
    Wilma is survived by two daughters, Myrna and husband, Gerald McCrary of Neosho, and Janice Long, Neosho; 12 grandchildren, Sheryl Beyer and husband, David, Las Cruces, N.M., Teryl Parmele, Neosho, James Lee ‘ Chip’ Parmele, Jr. and wife, Becky, Joplin, Steven McCrary and wife, Melinda, Lumberton, Texas, Suanne Lane, Kansas City, Tim McCrary and wife, Laura, Grove, Okla., Greg Cook, Neosho, Michael Cook, Oakland, Calif., Chris Cook and wife, Rhondia, Goodman, Jim Hoover and wife, Kimberly, Joplin, John Hoover; Neosho, and Christina Cramer and husband, Harold, Charleston, S.C.; 29 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mildred Caldwell and Lois (Bobbie) Young, Neosho, and Joan Sanders, Keene, Texas.
    In addition to her husband and parents, Wilma is preceded in death by three daughters, Billie Jean Parmele, Patsy J. Cook and Vicki A. McKinney; one great-grandson, Michael Lane; three brothers, Eugene Farmer, Morris Farmer and Alvin Farmer; and a sister, Dorothy Benton.
     Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Dr. Ray Crews, assisted by Rev. Roger Brumley, will officiate. Interment will be in the Neosho Memorial Park Cemetery and grandsons James Lee Parmele, Jr., Steven Wayne McCrary, Timothy Scott McCrary, Greg Lee Cook, Michael Wayne Cook, Christopher Bryan Cook, James Wiley Hoover and John Wesley Hoover will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
    Contributions in memory of Wilma may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, c/o Clark Funeral Home.
    The family will be at the home of both daughters: friends and family are welcome to come by or call.
    Service arrangements are under the directions of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
