The Neosho Lady Wildcats made short work of Willard, winning 13-3 in five innings in the Central Ozark Conference large division opener on Thursday at Willard High School.
The game was knotted 2-2 entering the fifth inning, but that’s when the Lady Wildcats struck for a staggering 11 runs to put it away. The Lady Wildcats (3-5, 1-0 COC) did their damage in the fifth despite having only four hits in the inning as they drew two walks, were hit by pitches twice and Willard committed three errors in the frame.
Bailey Spence led the Lady Wildcats with one hit and four RBIs, while Kylee Belcher had a double and three RBIs. Lindsay Vance was the lone Lady Wildcat with multiple hits in the game — she finished with two — and added an RBI. Kylie Bach had a hit and two RBIs and Cassie Dickens finished with a hit and an RBI. Deanna Bingham also chipped in a hit.
Cloe Neece earned the victory on the mound for Neosho as she struck out two and walked one in an efficient five innings of work.
Willard won the B game 8-2 in five innings.
Neosho hits the road for another COC test at Carthage at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
