  • Juanita A. Swartz, 89, Granby, died Sept. 20, 2013, at Granby House following a short illness.
    Juanita was born Oct. 6, 1923, in Eureka, Kan., and lived most of her life in the Granby area. She had worked at Granby Garment Factory as a sewing machine operator and was a homemaker. Juanita was an avid bowler, enjoyed playing pool, skating and bingo and loved watching birds. She was a member of the Eastern Star and of the Granby First Baptist Church.
    Juanita and Paul Swartz were married on March 29, 1942, at El Dorado, Kan., and he preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1996.
    She is survived by seven children, Lavoena Keeling and husband, Allen, Neosho, Ron Swartz and wife, Pat, Emporia, Kan., Donald Swartz and wife, Sharon, Pawnee, Okla., Cossette Broady and husband, James, Neosho, Gary Swartz and wife, Jera, Granby, Cheryl Payne, Tacoma, Wash., and Mike Swartz and wife, Nancy, Cottonwood Falls, Kan.; 20 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
    In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Harriett Swift and a brother, James Arnold.
    Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel in Granby. Rev. Doug Gripka will officiate. Interment will be in the Granby Memorial Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
    Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday at Clark Funeral Home, Granby, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m.

    Service arrangements are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
