  • The McDonald County softball team continued its torrent streak through the 2013 season by going 4-0 at the Branson Tournament over the weekend to remain perfect this season with an 18-0 record.

  • The McDonald County softball team continued its torrent streak through the 2013 season by going 4-0 at the Branson Tournament over the weekend to remain perfect this season with an 18-0 record.
    The Lady Mustangs topped Fair Grove 12-1, West Plains 8-0, Branson 11-1 and Bolivar 10-4.
    Kali Hodson and Cheyanne Chappie combined to whirl a perfect game against the Lady Zizzers from West Plains on Saturday. Hodson tossed five innings and struck out seven in the dazzling performance, while Chappie struck out two in a perfect frame. Macie Jones and Sierra Clay both had three hits and three RBIs to lead the team while Kelsy Reynolds and Rachel Brown both had two hits. Coley Ickes, Hodson and Hanna Schmit had a hit apiece.
    Ickes, Schmit and Clay doubled in the game, while Reynolds and Brown had triples.
    Five runs in the second and six more in the fourth helped the Lady Mustangs put Fair Grove away in four innings. Hodson again earned the victory on the mound as she scattered a run on two hits with four strikeouts and no walks. Ickes pitched one inning and allowed two hits.
    Courtni Smith led the team with two hits, including a double, and scored three runs. Ashton Harmon, Reynolds, Jones, Stormy Christerson, Brown and Clay had a hit apiece. Christerson tripled and drove in three runs. Reynolds had two RBIs.
    Smith crushed a grand slam in the third inning against Bolivar to lead the Lady Mustangs to victory. McDonald County scored two runs in the first, six in the third and two more in the fourth and held on as the Lady Liberators plated two in the third and two more in the fourth.
    Hodson earned the win on the mound as she scattered four runs (two earned) on six hits with three strikeouts and no walks. Smith, Jones and Hodson had two hits each, while Clay, Ickes, Reynolds and Harmon had a hit. Smith finished with four RBIs. Hodson doubled and had two RBIs, while Jones also doubled, scored twice and had an RBI.
    Not to be outdone, Hodson belted a grand slam in the first inning against Branson, and the Lady Mustangs added five more in the seventh en route to an 11-1 victory.
    Chappie worked all seven innings on the mound for the Lady Mustangs, and picked up the win after allowing a run on six hits with no walks and two strikeouts.
    Hodson, Jones and Reynolds had two hits each, while Harmon, Ickes, Christerson, Schmit and Clay had a hit. Hodson finished with five RBIs, while Jones had two doubles and three RBIs and Clay drove in two runs.
