The Missouri State Highway Patrol has released details of the Thursday morning crash that left Highway 60, just east of Neosho, temporarily blocked off.
The accident occurred around 8:45 a.m. Thursday, on U.S. Highway 60, two miles east of Neosho.
Jerry W. Shackelford, 67 of Newcastle, Okla., was traveling eastbound on U.S. 60 when the rear tire of his 2001 Honda Goldwing Motorcycle blew out, causing the motorcycle to overturn and travel off the left side of the roadway.
Shackelford's passenger Gail A. Shackelford, 65, also of Newcastle, suffered serious injuries in the accident and was flown by medical helicopter to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.
Jerry Shackelford suffered minor injuries in the crash and was taken by ambulance to Freeman West Hospital.
Both the driver and occupant were wearing their helmets at the time of the crash, according to the patrol report.
