The Neosho Lady Wildcats opened Central Ozark Conference play by hosting Webb City on Tuesday at NHS.

While the Lady Wildcats played much better than they had in their last outing, it was Webb City that came away with the victory in straight sets, 25-19, 25-23.

“We had a good practice yesterday,” Lady Wildcats coach Kerri Roy said. “We definitely played so much better. In that first game we had the lead for a while and then it was back and forth. Then (Webb City) came back. It was exciting. It was hard fought on both sides.”

Kylie Smith and Emily Mitchell led Webb City with five kills, while Mitchell also added eight assists. Kenzie Jaeger turned in two aces.

Brooke Stauffer and Morgan Rogers led the Lady Wildcats with five kills, while Stauffer also turned in three aces. Chelsey Henry finished with three blocks, while Mallory Powell led the team with 13 digs and Kennedy Lyerla had 6 assists.
Neosho fell to 4-13-1, 0-1. Webb City improved to 7-9-2.

Webb City won the B match 25-2, 25-18. Webb City 9th won 25-21, 25-21.

Neosho hosts Willard at 5 p.m. Thursday.
