ANDERSON – An Anderson man is dead and a former Neosho resident faces second-degree murder charges following an alleged stabbing incident.
According to a news release from the Anderson Police Department, officers responded to a reported stabbing at 11:18 p.m. Monday at 501 Fourth Street, in Anderson.
When law enforcement arrived, they found Keven Anderson, 29, of Anderson, with an apparent stab wound on the left side of his chest.
He was pronounced dead later that evening.
Shortly after they arrived on scene, officers arrested Boyd W. Marcum, 30, formerly of Neosho, who has reportedly been staying in Anderson.
Online court records also list a Granby address for Marcum.
According to online court records, arraignment was held Wednesday and Marcum pled not guilty to the second-degree murder charge.
Anderson police report that, according to witnesses, Anderson and Marcum were involved in an altercation Monday night, just down the street from where Anderson was found, at 508 Fourth Street.
Following the fight, Anderson reportedly left that address and walked to 501 Fourth Street to get help, while Marcum allegedly fled the scene.
However, authorities said Marcum surrendered without incident shortly after police arrival on scene.
Marcum is scheduled to appear before McDonald County Judge John LePage for a pre-trial conference at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28.
